Bosque Tropico

This map is vaguely similar to Black Forest.

Differences are that the forest is not as thick as on the standard map, and connections are made by straight roads - to your team member, as well as to your enemies. A series of commands causes a big river to appear between player lands, but often the river itself is not a real river, rather than a collection of longish ponds.

You can always walk to your enemy - follow the signs!.

All ressources are plentiful, but some - especially gold and stone - are hidden within the forest.

There is a evil and a happy variant of the map possible. On the evil map ressources are more hidden within a thicker forest, while on the happy map you have more open space and additional objects.

Scary Island

File Size: 8 K
Download: (Mac)   (Win)

This random map is basically one big island with tonnes of water

Differences are that "one big island" means in that case the island in the middle of the map, where all player start. This island is often devided by rivers into separate player islands. Despite of that they can be connected - by shallows. This one big island is surrounded by water, mostly forming a ring. In that Ocean-Ring are plenty of smaller islands and shallows, so perhaps you'll find a connection. On the edges of the map there are larger landmasses with lot of forest.

Mostly you can walk to your enemy, but often you may have to tranny across.

Food is plentiful, with extra deer, also plentiful gold and stone, but most of them on the outer lands. For starting, try the very good fishing option. The total ressource Ammount is dependent on a lot of things...

The map varies in 5 differnt ways with equal chances to appear:
  • 1. Happy Mode: You'll get additional objects and ressources - the spring modus.
  • 2. Tropical Mode: The landscape turns into an aequatorial summer.
  • 3. Evil Mode: A cold autumn wind makes the wolves hungry.
  • 4. Snowy Mode: The Landscape turns into winter.
  • 5. Standard Mode: Seasonless.

This Age of Empires II map is basically vaguely similar to Islands. Big and small islands in a big sea.

Differences are that the sea is only partially made out of water. The greater area is covered with shallows. So it should be easy to walk to your enemy as well as to your team member, but be careful! Sometimes it's a very good shortcut if you ferry across. On the other side the islands can be very thin and longish or even forming lakes. The islands's coast can break apart into numerous pools, with shallows scattered throughout the sea. So it can't be guaranteed that you can always ship to your enemy - don't try to fight with ships only.

Normally every player starts on its own big island, but very rarely it can happen that you have to share it with your team member. Beside a couple of smaller islands there is mostly one great island in the center where no player starts on.

It can happen that there is no water directly surrounding your starting island - only shallows. In this case it can be very complicated to build a dock. Search for a spot of water touching one of the smaller islands. Further it is possible that your starting area is sourrounded by a wall.

Food is plentiful, with extra deer, also plentiful gold and stone, but a lot of them on the outer islands. There is not endless wood on this map, so try the very good shore-fishing and hunting options (instead of farming). Especially in the beginning of the game to save your wood early. The total ressource ammount is dependent on a lot of things...

There are a few Gaia Objects somewhere on the map, not very well hidden. Don't forget to explore!

The map varies in 2 differnt ways with a 50% chance to appear:
  • 1. The Hot Mode: Jungle, Jaguars and Turkeys may appear, also some Siege things.
  • 2. The Cold Mode: You'll find Snow, Wolves and Sheeps, as well as some Archery stuff.
The variations only affect the beauty of the landscape, neither the ammount of ressources nor the form and size of the landmasses or all the different commands described above.

Stoned Coral

Vaguely similar to Archipelago, many small islands in a big sea.

Differences are that the islands are very small, and have connections- rather, a series of commands causes the islands' coast to break apart into numerous pools, with shallows scattered throughout the sea, sometimes making connections between the teams' lands.

Sometimes you can walk to your enemy, but often you may have to tranny across.

Food is plentiful, with extra deer, and very good fishing- which is dependent on a lot of things. Also plentiful gold and stone.

There are 4 types of the map possible: A stardard map (like discribed above), a happy map with additional gaia objects, gold, stone and archers. On this map you can be sure, that teams are connected by land or shallows. Further a evil map with additional wolves and mostly no connections between players or islands and last but not least a snowy map, which is a mixture of standard and happy, but all jungle and grass is replaced by snow and pine forest.

The Elements

File Size: 8 K
Download: (Mac)   (Win)

This map for Age of Kings - The Conquerors is basically more or less similar to Baltic, but without water (mostly).

The "Lake" in the middle of the originally Baltic Map is sometimes a Desert, Ice or rarely even real Water. All this depends on the Element, which is choosen randomly with equal chances. Connections are made by straight roads - to your team member, as well as to your enemies, except on Deserts or Ice. Ressources are plentiful. Some Gaia Objects are hidden somewhere on the map. You can always walk to your enemy - follow the signs!.

I think it's my best random map so far: detailed, varied and difficult.

Differences caused by the Elements:
Element: Terrain Trees Landscape Food Extras Animals Additional Objects The "Lake"
Earth: Dirt & Grass Thick Jungle Flat Turkeys & Forage Gold Jaguars Yurt & Jaguar Warriors Jungle Forest
Water: Water & Grass Oak Trees Flat & Wet Sheeps & Fishes Forage Wolves Junk (a crazy Ship) Water & Shallows
Fire: Desert & Dirt Bamboo & Palms Flat & Dry Boars Stone Jaguars Camel Light Cavalry Big Desert
Space: Snow & Grass Snow Pines Mountains Deer & Sheeps Relics Wolves Monks & Missionaries Few Water & Ice
Wind: Grass & Leaves Pine Forest Mountains anything nothing Horses Robin Hood & Archers Pine Forest
